KACRAO is set to “cast” a new set of “Survivors” for the 2011 “season” of the Summer Drive-In Workshop. Taking place at McPherson College on July 20th at 9:00 a.m., Committee Chair Alicia Sanchez reports that this “season” is sure to offer “impenetrable terrain, smoking volcanoes and savage wildlife” all in the name of professional development.

Open to all classified and support staff, you can register for the “casting call” online today at www.wichita.edu/kacrao. A $30.00 fee per person is required to join the “cast.” Should you choose to accept this challenge, all details regarding the payment and the Workshop will accompany the registration confirmation. Still on the fence about becoming a “Survivor?” Check out the attached information on what to expect this “season.”

In addition to taking part in this professional development opportunity, committee members encourage you to help collect kid friendly foods for the Food 4 Kids program. Food 4 Kids was established for students who are food insecure and who are not getting sufficient food outside of school on a regular basis. The Food Bank provides food and supplies to Food 4 Kids schools in Kansas, which are operated in partnership with community schools. http://www.kansasfoodbank.org/programs/food-4-kids/

Kid friendly foods that require no preparation. Kids can just “open and eat”.

FOR EXAMPLE:
– Peanut Butter (12-ounce jar) and a sleeve of crackers
– Beans and franks (pop-top can)
– Beef Jerky (1 ounce)
– Cereal (1-ounce bowl or box)
– Fruit cups (peaches, applesauce, etc)
– Raisins (snack-size boxes)
– Pudding cups
– Juice boxes (apple, orange, or other juice)
– Milk (aseptic pack boxes that do not require refrigeration)

Should you have any questions on how you can become a “Survivor,” please do not hesitate to contact Alicia Sanchez. The work you do for the state of Kansas and higher education is greatly appreciated–now show that you have the ability to “out-admit, out-record and out-process” at the 2011 Summer Drive-In Workshop!

Don’t forget if you are one of the lucky first 15 to sign up, you will receive a KACRAO bag full of goodies to help you SURVIVE the workshop.
