Incorporation - An Important Issue for KACRAO
The KACRAO Executive Council members have been researching the process of Incorporation. The unincorporated status of KACRAO exposes members to unlimited liability and unnecessary risk. Under incorporation, we would receive the same limited liability protection as for profit companies. This means that officers and members are typically not personally responsible for debts and liabilities. Incorporation also assists with tax-exempt status under the 501© (3) Tax Code and will be exempt from federal corporate income taxes. We would also be eligible to receive grants.
Specific information will be posted soon for review prior to the annual meeting. Please be looking for this information so that decisions regarding incorporation can be made during the annual business meeting. If you have questions or comments regarding this issue please contact Pat Mahon, KACRAO 2000 Ad Hoc Committee Chair (785-628-4222 or pmahon@fhsu.edu).
