Greetings Everyone:
This first, electronic only version of the Current is the fruit of at least two years of labor on the part of KACRAO past and present leadership. The Technology Committee, Publications Committee and the Executive Council have spent many hours planning, discussing and executing ideas that have made this possible. We have previous versions that are available on the web, but this edition is a true milestone. Many thanks to all of those who have worked so hard on behalf of their colleagues.
As we move into mid-summer, the time for the annual meeting is close enough that we should all be making plans to attend this year's event in McPherson. King Sausage, a.k.a. Glenn Lygrisse, has assured us that there will be no shortage of food or entertainment at the meeting, so get those hotel rooms reserved and your cars booked. As part of the preparation for this year's meeting, would all of you please be sure to review the slate of officers and the proposed budget which are a part of this newsletter. These items, along with other issues, will be presented to the membership for approval in September.
The Executive Council has been discussing the matter of incorporation for KACRAO for the past year, and there is also information in this newsletter about the direction that we think we should take regarding incorporation. It is not as complex as it may sound, and makes excellent sense relative to liability issues. Please look at the information provided so you will have some background on the subject when it comes up at the business meeting.
The drive-in workshop is only two weeks away as I write this, and I hope many of you are planning to send your support staff to Southwestern College for a day of fun and information. The Professional Development Committee has put together a great agenda, and for those of you who missed or would like to hear again Dr. Pat Long's presentation from last year's annual meeting, here's your chance. It promises to be a super day, and I hope to see many of you there.
Looking forward to Tradition and Future in McPherson - get those sausages ready!
Diane
