Assistant Registrar

Greetings Everyone:

Let the good times roll - a New Orleans phrase that certainly describes the annual AACRAO conference in New Orleans. I’m sorry that all of Kansas was not able to attend, but for those who did, it was a marvelous kaleidoscope of fun, food and professional development. I’m still checking for powdered sugar on my chin from the beignets (square-shaped doughnuts covered with powdered sugar) that were served everywhere. One sneeze and it was all over - literally! The AACRAO Program Committee, which includes Ange Peterson from Pittsburg State, deserves high marks for the fine sessions that were presented. It was an honor to accept the Elbert W. Ockerman Award for outstanding state or regional professional development activity, for the video from last year’s annual meeting, “Mission Possible”. Many positive comments were offered to Kansas members at the state and regional officers workshop, where the award was presented.

To further professional development right here at home, there are two things that each member can do right now; nominate someone for a leadership position in KACRAO for the coming year, and nominate someone for one of our association awards. The call for these two items has been made, and the response the last couple of years has not been great. This is your chance to have a voice in important association business - don’t ignore it! Please do remember that you should have confirmation from anyone whom you nominate for an office that he/she is willing to serve. There are forms and information on the KACRAO web site, kacrao.org, for both of these activities.

Good luck to all with the rest of your spring semesters, and if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of the Executive Council members.

Diane
