The Presidents Corner Diane
Barnes, Associate Registrar
Wichita State University
Greetings!
Now that weve all had time to settle back in our offices
after the annual meeting, I hope each of you have taken time
to reflect a bit on what was helpful to you at the conference,
and hopefully , incorporate some of those things into your daily
routines. While some of these thoughts are still fresh in your
minds, please pass on any program ideas for next year to Joey
Linn, Program Chair and President-Elect. I know that the Program
Committee would be pleased to have suggestions from the members
for next years conference.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank MargE Shelley
and her LAC committee for this years meeting, for the outstanding
time they provided for all of us in Olathe. I wouldnt mind
seeing that opening video again - that was a definite highlight!
Executive Council met November 2, 1999, in Wichita, while
most folks were already in town for the Futures Fair. We had
a very productive meeting, and have given Chris Meiers, Technology
Chair, approval to move ahead on several items related to the
KACRAO web site. We are all excited at the possibilities to provide
better service both to the association and to students and counselors
across the state. Chris needs another techie to share
some of the development work, so if any of you have some basic
web design skills, please step up and offer your services. You
can contact Chris at cmeiers@fhsu.edu
Its not too early to put AACRAOs annual meeting
on your calendars. The conference will be in New Orleans, April
9-12, and promises to be a great event. The New Orleans LAC is
suggesting that we make hotel reservations early and if you look
at the AACRAO web site at www.aacrao.org there is abundant information
on housing and other meeting items.
In closing, I would like to thank all of you for choosing
me to serve you this year as your president. I will do my best
to represent the association in a positive and professional manner.
If you have questions or comments, please direct them to me,
or any member of the Executive Council, or take advantage of
the KACRAO listserv and share your thoughts with the membership.
Good luck with the rest of your fall semesters.
Diane
