President's Report
Joey Linn
Greetings!
Another fall conference is in the bag for Kacrao. I sincerely
hope that all of you who attended the conference were pleased
with the sessions, entertainment, and other activities that took
place throughout the three days. As always, there was a lot of
networking and conversations with old friends. There was also
a lot of excitement with all the members that are new to the
organization. This camaraderie is what makes Kacrao such a great
organization to belong to.
Hats off to Glenn Lygrisse and the LAC committee for planning
such unique and entertaining activities that truly added to the
atmosphere of the conference. Without their hard work and commitment
to Kacrao, the conference would not have been so successful.
The Executive Council met during the morning of the Wichita
Futures Fair. A variety of issues were brought up that are very
important to our organization. Pat Duncan from Pittsburg State
has emailed all of you requesting feedback concerning the KACRAO
scholarships we award each year. There has been talk of increasing
the number and/or amounts of these scholarship awards. Please
provide Pat with you comments and concerns. Jon Armstrong will
be looking for feedback concerning the CPC circuit. Can we improve
the existing structure?
Finally, the Executive Council will be moving forward with
regards to the incorporation of Kacrao. However, I would like
all of you to review the following web site to make sure all
of your questions are answered regarding this process (www.bizfilings.com).
If you have comments, questions or concerns, please relay those
to me soon. I strongly feel it is important for Kacrao to move
forward on this issue.
On Sunday, November 5, Lisa Miller, Heather Eckstein and I
had the opportunity to attend the Kansas Association of Secondary
School Principals annual conference in Wichita. During the conference
we expressed our concern regarding access to high school students.
While we did not make any major breakthroughs, we did increase
the awareness of our challenges with them. I believe this was
a great beginning for further discussions with this association.
Last but not least, please remember AACRAO is right around
the corner. This year we are off to Seattle on April 22-25. I
hope a lot of you can make it. For more information on the Aacrao
conference, please check out their web site at www.aacrao.org.
In closing, I would like all of you to know that I appreciate
your confidence in me as your president for this current year.
I will do my very best to represent this great organization in
a professional manner. Please remember my door is always open,
my email is always available (jlinn@fhsu.edu),
and my phone (785-628-4044) is always close by. Have a great
year!
